I took these photos in Rwanda during my two-week stay in June 1997. At the time, the tiny and over-crowded nation was known almost exclusively for having experienced one of the worst human-rights violations of the 20th century. I intended to report on the genocide trials, but a number of factors, including my case of malaria and the civil war that was causing massive loss of life in certain areas, led to me leave prematurely. Please click on each image for a larger view with the lightbox tool.
