Tacoma, City of Destiny

I worked in Tacoma from October 2012 through June 2014, but I have always been fascinated by its tough, gritty, and at times severe industrial development. This is a massive cargo container port, heavy manufacturing area, and commercial zone, particularly the Port of Tacoma, that is a far cry from the idealized, high-tech, and natural imagery many in this country and globally concoct of the the Pacific Northwest. To my eyes, Tacoma is one of the most visually distinctive working cities in America, forever rough on the edges and tough at its core.
